Fill Gaps Caused by 1 to 3 Missing Teeth

A dental bridge is designed to restore the appearance and health of your smile by filling gaps with a false tooth supported by dental implants, natural teeth, or a combination of both. Known as a ‘fixed partial denture,’ bridges are securely bonded or cemented in place and do not need to be removed for cleaning or while sleeping. Replacing missing teeth is not only important for cosmetic reasons but also for your overall oral health. Gaps can interfere with speaking and chewing, and they can cause surrounding teeth to shift out of place.

Long-Lasting Benefits of Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can affect both your confidence and comfort. A dental bridge not only restores the appearance of your smile but also provides long-term benefits for your teeth and the overall health of your mouth. Here’s a quick look at the advantages of a dental bridge:

Comfort

A dental bridge quickly restores the feel and look of your smile, allowing you to eat and speak comfortably again. Missing teeth can make everyday tasks difficult, but with proper care, a dental bridge can provide lasting comfort for over ten years.

Tooth Health

Your teeth work together to maintain your bite and facial structure. Missing teeth can cause neighboring teeth to shift, leading to misalignment and other dental issues. A dental bridge helps prevent this shifting, reducing the risk of decay, gum disease, jaw pain, and TMJ disorder.

Bone Health

Healthy teeth support a healthy jawbone. When teeth are missing, bone loss can occur. By stabilizing your dental health with a bridge, you can slow the rate of bone loss and help preserve the integrity of your jawbone.

The Cost of a Dental Bridge in Brantford
The cost of a dental bridge can vary depending on individual factors. With insurance, you can typically expect to pay between $800 and $1200 for a dental bridge. Without insurance, the price usually ranges from $2000 to $3000 or more.

What Determines the Cost of a Dental Bridge?
  • The type of bridge and the material used (e.g., porcelain, metal, or a combination)
  • The number of missing teeth being replaced
  • The location and complexity of the procedure
  • The condition of the adjacent teeth that will support the bridge
  • The supplies and equipment required for your specific treatment

Keep in mind, no dental office can provide an accurate quote over the phone. Since every patient’s needs are unique, it’s essential to consult with a dentist and undergo an oral exam to explore your treatment options and receive a precise quote. If you have dental insurance, we’d be happy to provide you with a quote to submit to your insurance company, helping you understand your out-of-pocket costs before moving forward with the treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental bridges come in different types, including permanent and semi-permanent options. Bridges are sometimes called fixed partial dentures because they are bonded to existing teeth or implants and are designed to stay in place. The key difference between a bridge and a partial denture is that bridges are fixed and just consist of artificial teeth, while partial dentures are removable and include pink gum-like material to fill in gaps.

A cantilever bridge is used when there aren’t adjacent teeth on both sides of the gap. They are less common today and are generally not recommended for back teeth, as they can place too much force on remaining teeth, potentially causing damage. If your missing teeth are in the back of your mouth, other options are typically a better fit.

The process for getting a dental bridge usually involves two appointments, each lasting less than an hour. The first visit is for preparing the teeth, and the second is for placing the permanent bridge.

Dental bridges can be made from a variety of materials, including gold alloys, non-precious alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these. We typically use porcelain for dental bridges, as it provides a natural look and is durable.

While dental bridges and crowns are sometimes confused, they serve different purposes. A crown is a cap placed over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape and strength, while a dental bridge is used to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth by connecting artificial teeth to the adjacent natural teeth or implants.

A single crown cannot replace a missing tooth by itself. A crown is a cap that fits over an existing or prepared tooth, or a dental implant, to restore its appearance and function. For a missing tooth, a dental implant or bridge is typically needed to fill the gap.

Yes, dental bridges can be made from zirconia, a strong and durable material. Feel free to ask us for more information about zirconia or other materials to help determine which option is best suited for your specific needs.

We switched to Shellard Lane Family Dental after our 6 year old daughter ended up with 3 abscessed teeth from another dentist. That was 8 years ago and I do not regret our decision at all. They were great when the kids were young and still are. The front desk staff are awesome.
